I knew that I had a natural ability to simplify. I've always had this ability to take a lot of complexity and drill it down to the three bullet points, right? So my husband and I have been together for 26 years, and when I read my WHY.os results, I was like,"OH!" MY hubsband has always said, "You never like my ideas, like whenever I come up with an idea, you always wanna do it your way." And I would have to explain, "No, I don't wanna do it my way. I do like your ideas." And I couldn't understand why he felt that way. And then when I read my WHY.os and explained it to him, "It's not that I don't like your ideas, but as soon as I hear your idea, my automatic response is, how can I make this better?" I now had the language to explain why I do what I do.

The biggest result, breakthrough, and transformation for me since my WHY Discovery and then on to understand my WHY.os, has been the ability to put language to what drives me. And the reason it's important to put language is because I'm Better Way, Challenge, and Contribute. And because of my posture and because of my, look, I could be intimidating if I'm constantly challenging the status quo, and constantly leaning against formerly, commonplace thoughts. And so to be able to put the language into, ‘Hey, I'm better way, therefore, I'm always looking for a better way. The way that I do that is to Challenge the status quo and traditional thinking so that it will create a better environment and Contribute to those that are part of an organization or even to an individual.’ That has been a tremendous breakthrough for me.

I knew that I wanted to make an impact. That's why I did two years of disaster relief for the United States government. I think the HOW of Make Sense actually was the most helpful one because I knew about my impact desire and I knew I was feisty, but helping to make sense of things... I'd always been told that I was good at explaining things. That's kind of a hard superpower to really quantify like, 'oh, you're really good at explaining.' It just feels kind of ethereal. Right? And then when you draw it down to say no, like I Make Sense of the complex. That's part of who I am. I think that's the one that had the most impact on my work and kind of my confidence about what I had going on.

When I got my WHY of Contribute and it said I'm driven to make a difference, It just felt natural and like I've been told that my whole life. But then when we talked about my HOW being Challenge, I really sat up and I got even more interested. Then when we completed the process by rounding out my, WHAT being Better Way, I knew I needed this for my clients. I had such an amazing level of clarity that I don't think I've had for a long time.

There is a saying from an unknown author that goes: “Who we are is who we are when we are not being who we are not.” The WHY.os has helped me get clear on who I am (Clarify – Make Sense – Mastery) so that I can step into Who I Am while stepping away from who I am not. This has been true in both my personal and my professional lives. Getting clear on one’s WHY.os is the first step in better decision-making. It’s an amazing resource.

What if you took an hour of your time, of your precious time, and dug deeper into WHY you do the things that you do, HOW you do those things, and WHAT you do? What if you could use this one hour to forever change and enhance not only the way you lead, but your effectiveness as a leader and most importantly, your ability to influence others? Because to me, great leaders are influencers.

Discovering your WHY.os is like remembering who you were before the world told you who you weren't.

The WHY.os gives value and purpose. If you don't have purpose in your life, or kind of know where you're going, it's very challenging to get there. This is a tool that we use all the time to help people shortcut that to understand why they're doing what they do, what they're doing, what their purpose is.
